Department of Electricity and Energy

The Gyeognsangbuk-do government designed a policy to create an energy cluster based on the government’s low-carbon, green growth engine project. This, combined with the semiconductor industry in Gumi has stimulated the growth of the LED and photovoltaic power generation industry, prompting changes inside the energy industry at the Gumi National Industrial Complex. As such, the Department of Electricity and Energy at Gumi University has built a New Renewable Energy Education and Training Center and is offering education on energy-related technology to foster technicians capable of participating in various construction projects across strategic industries in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region and the energy industry sector at the Gumi National Industrial Complex.

Department of Landscape Architecture

Global warming continues to disrupt the natural order in our ecosystem, causing environmental catastrophes that threaten the survival of the human race. As such, the Department of Landscape Architecture is seeking for ways to stimulate economic growth and solve environmental issues at the same time. The Department’s ultimate vision is to create a future of green growth.
Today, people pursue high-quality living, good environments, and a culture of well-being based on affluent lifestyles. People also want fresh, healthy, and eco-friendly goods and services that can create a pleasant environment and inject some energy into their lives. Landscaping is an area that creates these environments. It contributes to green growth, and plays a central role in creating more affluent lives. Also, more and more people are enjoying the forest or other natural venues in their free time. This is one of the main factors that makes landscaping such a potential-laden industry. Moreover, today’s cities are transforming landfills into parks, unearthing rivers buried beneath concrete inside the city to restore clear-water rivers, building green roofs to ensure animals, birds, and insects all have a place to live among people, and are building biotopes that give small homes to animals in the city. Thus, the future is truly bright for landscaping.
As the only landscaping-related department in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region, the Department of Landscape Architecture at Gumi University offers foundational theoretical education and practical education required in developing expert landscaping technicians who can create healthy and beautiful environments. Students can learn advanced skills and become active and creative landscaping professionals in today’s industrialized society.
